Individual Therapy

Focused, one-on-one therapy that integrates insight, experience, and real-life practice
What is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy is a one-on-one, confidential service with a trained mental health professional.

In a supportive setting, you explore thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and personal history with the focused attention of a therapist. The aim is to support meaningful change that carries into daily life.

When Therapy Feels Stuck

Sometimes, people seek individual therapy not because they lack insight, but because insight alone hasn’t led to meaningful change.

You may understand where certain patterns come from,
be able to talk about your emotions clearly, and still find yourself reacting in the same ways: feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward.

This can happen when change is being asked to occur only through thinking and talking, while emotional, relational, or bodily patterns remain untouched.

At Roiya, we often work with clients who feel “almost there”, yet notice a gap between what they understand and how they actually experience daily life.

Individual therapy can be especially helpful when that gap is acknowledged rather than rushed.

How This Shapes Our Work

In individual sessions, we pay attention not only to what is said, but also to how experiences are held in the body, in relationships, and in lived patterns.

Alongside reflection and conversation, therapy may include gentle, guided experiential work that helps bring awareness to emotional responses as they unfold, and supports integration into real-life situations at a pace that feels safe and collaborative.

This approach allows insight to be grounded in experience, so that understanding can gradually translate into greater choice, flexibility, and change.

Common Goals
  • Healing: Work through trauma, grief, addiction, or major life changes.

  • Coping skills: Learn healthy strategies for stress, anxiety, anger, and other intense emotions.

  • Self-awareness: Understand patterns, triggers, and how past experiences shape the present.

  • Mental health management: Reduce symptoms of conditions such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder.

  • Relationships: Build clearer communication and healthier connections.

  • Personal growth: Strengthen confidence, decision-making, and progress toward your goals.

What to Expect at Roiya
  • Free consultation: A 15–30 minute conversation to walk you through logistics and understand your needs.

  • Intake and onboarding: Your first visit focuses on your history, current concerns, and goals. For complex cases, one or two follow-up intake sessions may be needed.

  • Plan of care: We collaborate with you to create a tailored plan using approaches that fit your goals and preferences.

  • Session format and cadence: Individual sessions are typically 60 minutes. Care may be short term for specific goals or longer term for more complex needs.

  • How we work in session: Beyond conversation, therapists guide you through experiential exercises that build insight and skills.

  • Between-session practice: You may receive take-home exercises to apply what you learn in daily life.

  • Therapeutic relationship: Trust, empathy, and mutual respect are central and strongly linked to positive outcomes.
